Sourdough Discard Brownies
These brownies are an ultimate dessert favorite of many! They charm with their rich and fluffy texture and chocolate flavor that melts in your mouth.
Sourdough discard is also used in this brownie recipe, so it is suitable for home cooks who also love to bake with discard. Adding sourdough discard to baked goods is a great way to avoid throwing away your discard while adding a subtle flavor to your brownie.
These brownies are easy to make and they have a wonderfully soft chocolate center. This recipe only takes about 15 minutes to prepare and makes about 16 brownies.

| 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed | |
| 2 large eggs | |
| 1 tsp vanilla extract | |
| 1/2 cup sourdough discard (unfed starter) | |
| 1/2 cup all-purpose flour | |
| 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder | |
| 1/2tsp salt | |
| 1/2 tsp baking powder | |
| 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped | |
| 1/2 cup chocolate (optional) |
Directions

Preheat the oven to 175°C and grease an 8x8 inch baking dish or alternatively line it with baking paper.

Melt the butter. Then beat the butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar until smooth in a large bowl. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract and sourdough discard until all the ingredients are well mixed.

Sieve the flour, cocoa powder, salt and baking powder together in a separate bowl. Carefully add the mixture to the moist mixture you just prepared. Stir until no streaks or flour remain.

If desired, add chocolate chips or chopped chocolate.

Pour the dough into a greased baking dish and smooth the surface. Bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
